A kindergarten teacher made care packages for each of her students after her school was closed due to coronavirus pandemic.Jean Witt last saw her students in their classroom at Aspen Creek PK-8 in Bloomfield, Colorado, on March 12, KDVR reported. She was sure she'd see them again soon, but last Friday, she found out schools would be closed for much longer.Witt was upset because she plans to retire at the end of the year and this year's kindergarten class is the last she will teach at Aspen Creek PK-8, where she has worked since the school opened 20 years ago."It's really hard not to be able to see my students and for them not to see me or their friends," she told KDVR.So she decided to visit each of her 27 students and drop off bags filled with sanitized educational games and books."I thought, 'I want to go see my kids one more time.' So we made this plan to go visit and drop off bags," Witt added.Witt's daughter Nicole Curtis put together a video of Witt's visits to the children on Facebook on Sunday. In the clip, Witt is seen waving and blowing kisses to the children from a distance while dropping off the packs of games and books.Witt told KDVR the hardest part was making sure she stayed several feet away from the children, adding: "That's why I blew kisses and told them that I loved them.""A "new normal" exists, there are challenges to endure, and a teacher's love for her students shines on," Curtis wrote alongside the video on Facebook, which has since attracted hundreds of likes and shares."Such a special day watching my Mom, THE Mrs.Witt, visit all of her Kindergarten students to spread some happiness during this unusual time.To say they were excited would be an understatement!"In a follow-up post, Curtis added: "Anyone who knows her knows that she never does anything for recognition. She has the kindest and most genuine heart. We never expected this sort of outcome, but it sure is special to see how her love has impacted not only her students, but soooo many others as well!" Witt and Curtis have been contacted for additional comment.Aspen Creek PK-8 PTA shared the video on their Facebook page, adding: "We all know how incredible of a teacher Mrs.Witt is, but she sure brought tears to so many eyes today!"Witt added that she'll continue teaching her students online while the school remains closed, and will make sure she sees them again in person before the next school year.Colorado Governor Jared Polis last week ordered all public and private schools across Colorado to remain closed until April 17 as part of the state's fight to curb the spread of the coronavirus.Colorado has 720 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, and seven deaths, according to the latest data from the Colorado Department of Public Health. All data is taken from the source:
